Carissimi Fratelli,
avrei voluto indirizzarvi questo mio breve saluto in occasione delle festività Pasquali in una situazione ben diversa e meno travagliata di quella che tutti quanti stiamo vivendo da più di un mese a causa dell’epidemia che ci ha tolto la bellezza della libertà e ci ha portato via dei familiari e dei meravigliosi Fratelli.
Nel triste computo delle vittime del coronavirus anche noi abbiamo pagato il nostro prezzo con la perdita di Fratelli del Grande Oriente d’Italia che sono passati all’Oriente Eterno e la cui memoria onoreremo in Gran Loggia l’11, 12 e 13 settembre prossimi. Pensiamoli con gioia, orgogliosi di loro e stringiamoci più che mai accanto alle loro famiglie che saranno private del loro grande sostegno, così come la nostra Obbedienza del loro prezioso lavoro fra le colonne.
Ma, con grande forza e coraggio, sforziamoci di pensare anche al futuro che ci aspetta per superare il presente e sostenere l’immenso peso della dura attualità che grava sulle nostre vite.
La Giunta del Grande Oriente d’Italia ha cominciato a guardare al futuro con i Mattoni della Fratellanza proprio per quando questa fase dell’emergenza sanitaria sarà finita e inizierà l’Opera della ricostruzione che avrà dei costi e comporterà scelte e anche dolorosi sacrifici.
Noi non vogliamo che l’appartenenza al Grande Oriente d’Italia sia un problema che va a sommarsi ad altre difficoltà che i Fratelli sono e saranno costretti ad affrontare. Far parte di questa gloriosa Istituzione dev’essere un privilegio per tutti, per chi mantiene la sicurezza economica e per quanti momentaneamente l’hanno persa. A questi ultimi vanno ugualmente garantiti il percorso e gli strumenti massonici che hanno mostrato di utilizzare con perizia, sensibilità e generosità. La catena d’unione va mantenuta e consolidata per quando #tuttoquestopasserà.
In questa particolare fase abbiamo scoperto formule nuove di connessione tecnologica, piattaforme con cui comunicare a distanza visto che i Templi devono ancora rimanere chiusi. La mia speranza è che questa fase straordinaria di iperconnessione tecnologica si trasformi poi in una unione di cuori. Una congiunzione che ci abitui a sostenere l’altro, a confrontarsi con l’altro, ad abbracciare sinceramente l’altro perché possiamo avere a disposizione tutti i mezzi di comunicazione più moderni ma nulla, assolutamente nulla, può sostituire lo sguardo dell’essere umano, quello che esprime la voce del cuore e della mente.
Quello che caratterizza noi, eredi di antichi costruttori di cattedrali e di grandi opere per l’Umanità. Noi, uomini dalle mani forti, dal pensiero libero e dal genio sempre pronto al Bene di tutti.
Carissimi Fratelli, prepariamoci ad affrontare le sfide che ci attendono tenendo saldamente in mano gli utensili dell’Arte. E facciamolo meditando le parole che sono state scritte dal premio Nobel per la letteratura Thomas Stearns Eliot che ci indicano la via e il lavoro di operai che attende tutti noi quando l’emergenza sarà solo un brutto ricordo e si ricostruirà tutti insieme il futuro:
