Un busto del Fratello Giuseppe Meoni (1879-1934), già Gran Maestro aggiunto del GOI e presidente del Rito Simbolico italiano, sarà donato dal Grande Oriente d’Italia e dal Rito simbolico alla Fondazione sul giornalismo intitolata a Paolo Murialdi.
La consegna avrà luogo martedì 21 maggio nella sede della Fondazione (via Augusto Valenziani 10/A, Roma) alle ore 11.00.
Il Fr. Giuseppe Meoni, giornalista di origine toscana, ricoprì vari ruoli di rilievo nella sua professione fino a diventare consigliere della Federazione nazionale della stampa e redattore capo del quotidiano romano Il Messaggero.
In tutti gli incarichi ricoperti, Meoni difese tenacemente la libertà di stampa, in particolare contro le prevaricazioni fasciste. Per questa sua attività e per l’appartenenza alla Massoneria fu condannato al confino.
Il Grande Oriente e il Rito simbolico intendono, con il dono del busto, ricordare e onorare la lotta del Fr. Meoni per la libertà di stampa e contro il fascismo.
